Dental Fillings in Ambernath East
Tooth-coloured composite restorations that repair decay and rebuild the tooth so it blends in and holds up.

- Anaesthesia
- Local anaesthetic, usually
A filling repairs a tooth that has been damaged by decay. The decayed tissue is removed, and the space it leaves is rebuilt with a material that restores the tooth's shape, strength and function.
We use tooth-coloured composite resin as standard. It is bonded directly to the tooth, which means less healthy tooth structure has to be removed than with older silver amalgam fillings, and the result is invisible in normal conversation.
Signs you may need this
- Sensitivity to sweet, hot or cold food and drink
- A visible hole, dark spot or chalky white patch on a tooth
- Food consistently packing into the same spot
- A rough or chipped edge you keep catching with your tongue
- Pain when biting down on one particular tooth
What happens during your appointment
Numbing
Local anaesthetic is placed so the procedure is comfortable. For very small, shallow cavities it is sometimes not needed at all.
Removing decay
Only the decayed tissue is removed. Healthy tooth structure is preserved. Every millimetre kept is a millimetre of strength retained.
Bonding
The cavity is cleaned and a bonding agent applied, which lets the composite adhere to the tooth itself rather than just sitting in a hole.
Layering and curing
Composite is placed in thin layers, each hardened with a curing light, and shaped to match your natural tooth anatomy.
Bite check and polish
We check your bite so the filling doesn't sit high, then polish it smooth so it feels like your own tooth.
Why it is worth doing
- Matches your natural tooth shade, so it is invisible when you smile
- Bonds to the tooth, so less healthy structure is removed
- No mercury, unlike traditional amalgam fillings
- Completed in a single visit
- Stops decay before it reaches the nerve and needs a root canal
Aftercare
- Avoid chewing on that side until the numbness fully wears off
- Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days is normal
- If the bite feels high or uneven after a day, come back. It takes two minutes to adjust
- Composite fillings are set immediately, so you can eat as soon as the anaesthetic wears off
Dental Fillings: common questions
The questions patients actually ask about this treatment, answered without the parts that only apply to someone else's case.
A well-placed composite filling typically lasts 7 to 10 years, and often longer. Lifespan depends on the size of the filling, where it sits in the mouth, your bite, and how well you keep the area clean.
Not automatically. If an amalgam filling is intact, sealed and the tooth is healthy, replacing it means removing more tooth structure for no clinical gain. We replace them when they fracture, leak, or decay has formed underneath, or if you specifically want a tooth-coloured result.
The area is numbed first, so you should feel pressure and vibration but not pain. The injection itself is the only sharp part, and we use topical gel beforehand to blunt it.
Very early demineralisation, a chalky white spot that has not yet broken through the enamel, can sometimes be remineralised with fluoride and better cleaning. Once a cavity has formed a physical hole, it cannot heal and will only get bigger. That is why check-ups matter.
